2025 SWS Annual Meeting Symposia Proposals

The Society of Wetland Scientists 2025 Annual Meeting promises to be a prime educational and networking opportunity that will gather leading researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and academics passionate about the advancement of wetland science. Hosted at the Rhode Island Convention Center from Tuesday, July 15-Friday, July 18, 2025, this unique meeting is themed “Navigating the Waters: Wetland Science, Evolving Policy, and the Future of our Landscape.”

PROPOSAL SUBMISSION
Symposium proposal organizers are encouraged to be creative and focus on the uniqueness and interdisciplinary nature of attendees at the annual meeting. The Program Committee is particularly interested in proposals that highlight the meeting theme. However, proposals that are not directly related to the theme will be considered if they involve ground-breaking areas of research, technology, management, policy, or combinations thereof. Proposals will be evaluated primarily on the current interest of their subject and the qualifications of proposed speakers. In general, interdisciplinary symposia that include speakers from multiple disciplines and organizations will be given preference over symposia that have more restricted topic coverage.

SYMPOSIA SCHEDULING
Symposia will be scheduled on Tuesday, July 15-Friday, July 18. Symposia may fill up to three (3) time blocks, with five (5) presentations in each block; that is, the maximum number of speakers is 15 in any given symposium. Each talk will be 20 minutes long, allowing 10 minutes for an introduction at the start of each symposium block. If less than 15 speakers are submitted, please consider reducing your symposium by filling only one (1) or two (2) time blocks.

Please note that all proposed speakers must submit an abstract when the abstract site opens in March 2025. If your symposium does not receive the full five (5), 10 or 15 abstracts by the submission deadline, oral presentation submissions for contributed sessions may be scheduled within your symposium time block(s) in order to fill the meeting program. Final schedule assignments will be determined by the Local Program Committee.

Please complete the below form by Friday, December 20, 2024. A submission confirmation will be sent for the applicant’s records upon receipt of the proposal. All proposed symposia will be evaluated by the Symposia Subcommittee and final decisions will be announced in late January 2025.
