2025 Student Virtual Conference Volunteer Form

The Student Section will serve as the host for the Society of Wetland Scientist’s 2025 Student Virtual Conference. We are seeking volunteers to help participate in organizing this meeting. We are looking for people who are interested in serving either as Chairs for any the subcommittees below, or by just being willing to pitch in to help where possible on any of these planning efforts. Many of these tasks described below is supported with great assistance by the SWS Business Office staff.

This meeting will be happening virtually. This is a great opportunity to serve the section and the SWS organization by learning more about the behind-the-scenes efforts that go into planning a conference, while getting to know your fellow SWS members. Symposia: Committees’ role is to solicit and review symposia proposals. The chair schedules symposia into the program and works with the abstract review sub-committee to provide input and assist during scheduling of contributed sessions.

Abstract Review: This committee reviews abstract submissions, including abstracts submitted for presentation during approved symposia. One abstract review chair will work with the symposia chair to schedule contributed sessions while the other works on finalizing submissions that need further review for acceptance.

Plenary Speakers: This committee proposes plenary speakers and solicits the chosen speakers once approved.

Sponsorship & Exhibitors: Committees’ role is to solicit sponsors and exhibitors for the meeting.

Workshops: This committee proposes and organizes workshop options. Each workshop should have a volunteer who will lead planning efforts and be the liaison.
