2025 Annual Meeting Volunteer Form

The New England Chapter will serve as the host for the Society of Wetland Scientist’s 2025 Annual Meeting, Tuesday, July 15 - Friday, July 18. We are seeking volunteers to help participate in the Local Planning Committee (LPC) in organizing this meeting.

Below are some of the individual subcommittees/tasks we are looking for help. We are looking for people who are interested in serving on the LPC, either as Chairs for any these subcommittees or by just being willing to pitch in to help where possible on any of these planning efforts. Many of these tasks described below are also supported by the SWS Business Office staff.

This meeting will be happening in person (with maybe some limited remote participation opportunities), so we will need a cadre of folks to help out with organizing and implementing a large in-person event. Coordination of the LPC and subcommittee members will primarily be done via remote video/phone/email on a monthly basis. You do not need to be part of the New England Chapter to volunteer. All are welcome!

Symposia: Committees’ role is to solicit and review symposia proposals. The chair schedules symposia into the program and works with the abstract review sub-committee to provide input and assist during scheduling of contributed sessions).

Abstract Review: This committee reviews abstract submissions, including abstracts submitted for presentation during approved symposia. One abstract review chair will work with the symposia chair to schedule contributed sessions while the other works on finalizing submissions that need further review for acceptance. The chairs also approve final poster assignments (numbers and order in poster hall) provided by SWS Business Office staff.

Plenary Speakers: This committee proposes plenary speakers to the LPC and solicits the chosen speakers once approved. Once speakers are confirmed, SWS Business office staff will manage scheduling and travel logistics.

Sponsorship & Exhibitors: Committees’ role is to solicit sponsors and exhibitors for the meeting. Once confirmed, SWS Business Office staff will manage sponsor and exhibitor benefits.

Field Trips & Workshops: This committee proposes and organizes field trip and workshop options. Each field trip and workshop should have a volunteer who will lead planning efforts and be the onsite liaison. SWS Business Office Staff will help with transportation and food/beverage logistics.
