CWP Camp Culture

This is probably the most important communication you will receive as it deals with the physical and emotional safety of your children.

We ask that parents and campers read this form together carefully and sign as indicated.

We are committed to creating a safe, respectful and supportive environment at White Pine. In order to do this, we must ensure that campers clearly understand these important rules and expectations.

Campers will adhere to the following policy outlining how they conduct themselves at camp. They will do their part in ensuring that the atmosphere at White Pine is consistent with its core values:

KINDNESS     RESPECT     ACCEPTANCE     GROWTH

Your initials and signatures below indicate that you understand that the following behaviours will jeopardize your ability to remain at camp.

BULLYING – Physical, verbal or emotional abuse of others will not be tolerated. This includes involvement in any group hazing behaviour, demeaning actions or language, scapegoating, or exclusion. Campers have chosen to live in a communal environment and everyone is entitled to feel safe and accepted for who they are.

DISCRIMINATION OF ANY KIND –This includes sexist, racist or homophobic comments. Campers must act in a respectful way toward other campers and staff of all sexes, genders, races, religions and sexual orientations.

PERSONAL BOUNDARIES – Camp is a very unique environment. This uniqueness makes it special and unlike any other environment. This uniqueness also means that we have to respect everyone’s personal space, bodies and comfort level. Everyone has a different comfort level when it comes to personal boundaries. Here are some examples:

  • Some people love hugs and others feel uncomfortable being touched
  • Some people are fine changing or walking around unclothed in front of others, and others might be really uncomfortable seeing people’s naked bodies

Any photos or videos taken at camp must be appropriate.

Please talk to your child about being respectful of others physical space, bodies and boundaries.

PRANKS – Any pranks or games that hurt the emotional or physical well-being of other campers or staff are strictly forbidden at camp. Aggressive physical touch, physical or sexual jokes or pranks, inappropriate games or challenges can all be interpreted as physical or sexual harassment in certain circumstances.

VANDALISM - Destruction of camp property, including graffiti, will not be tolerated. Destruction of other campers' or staff's personal property is also unacceptable at camp.

STEALING – No one is allowed to take another person’s belongings without permission.

CAMP BOUNDARIES - The camp boundary rules are clearly communicated to the campers on the first night of camp. No campers are allowed in cabins of the opposite sex. Main camp campers are not allowed on the opposite gender's side of camp unless it is part of a staff organized program. No campers other than Gnus are allowed in the Gnu village. No campers other than TVs are allowed in the TV village.

The rules listed above apply to all campers.

Please answer the question below to access an additional section for campers in Reds, Gnus and TVs (campers born in 2010 and earlier).

The rules listed below will be strictly enforced.

DRUGS OR ALCOHOL – Anyone possessing drugs or alcohol in their belongings, anyone using drugs or alcohol, or anyone in the presence of someone with drugs or alcohol or someone using drugs or alcohol will be sent home immediately for the remainder of the summer.

These rules apply to appliances capable of being used to consume THC and other illegal substances, even if the appliances are being used to consume non-THC substances. This includes weed pens and vapes.

If the camp director or another staff member believes a camper is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, they are also violating the rules, in other words – “you do not need to be caught in the act”.

SMOKING – Campers are not allowed to smoke cigarettes. E-Cigarettes and Juuls are also not allowed. Parents will be informed of any infraction. Campers may be sent home for violation of this rule.

Parents will be informed immediately if their child does not abide by this policy.

Each situation will be dealt with individually.

There will be no refunds for campers who are sent home due to violations of these rules.

Please sign below with all of your children who are attending camp this summer to indicate you have all read and understand these rules.
