Research studies in the last decade have indicated that instructional coaching can have a transformational impact on teacher and student growth. Coaching can also be difficult for schools and districts to implement successfully. This paper will support education leaders to define the purpose, roles, and responsibilities that make instructional coaches highly effective impact multipliers. The paper will address the three challenges to integrating coaching into a school or district: time, talent, and training. Finally, it will offer an 8-step blueprint for implementing an instructional coaching model, either as a pilot or in a system-wide capacity.
