Community Award Descriptions

Girl Scout Hero
This award recognizes an individual, group, or organization that has given meaningful, outstanding service at the council or movement level. Girl Scout membership is not required.

Approved by the GCNWI Board.

-Nominator will be notified of the status of the nomination after it is reviewed.
-Nominator is responsible for notifying the approved awardee of the recognition and arranging any local presentation of the award.
-GS Hero Awardees will also be invited to attend the council wide recognition event to be honored there as well (the next event will be in Fall 2024).
-Awardees recieve a framed certificate. This is provided at no cost.

Examples of Potential Candidates for Girl Scout Hero could be the following:
-A local buisness that donated items to a council wide service project
-A community partner organization that assisted in hosting a council wide program

Girl Scout Enthusiast
This award recognizes an individual, group, or organizaton that has given meaningful outstanding service at the local community level (troop or service unit). Girl Scout membership is not required.

Approved by the GCNWI Adult Recognition Team

-Nominator will be notified of the status of the nomination after it is reviewed.
-Nominator is responsible for notifying the approved awardee of the recognition and arranging any local presentation of the award.
-Awardees recieve a framed certificate. This is provided at no cost.

Examples of Potential Candidates for Girl Scout Enthusiast could be the following:
-A principal that has welcomed Girl Scouts into the school for troop meetings
-A church that allows troops to utilize meeting space
-A local business that allows cookie booths

PLEASE NOTE:
These awards are for community partners and should not be used to recognize the work of Girl Scout Volunteers or Staff for work done within their volunteer or staff roles. Please consider recognizing the work of volunteers and staff through our other recognitions. More information can be found at www.girlscoutsgcnwi.org/recognition

Examples of candidates that do not meet the criteria of this award:
-A troop volunteer who assists the troop with a service project
-A Service Unit volunteer who assists with Cookie Delivery
-A staff member who supports a community area as part of their role
