2019 Bilateral Above-Knee Amputee Boot Camp

The 2019 Bilateral Above-Knee Amputee (BAKA) Boot Camp is for bilateral above-knee prosthetic users interested in improving their daily function and abilities. This 3-day interactive workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of what is possible for a full-time prosthetic user.

Location: National Harbor, Maryland

Date: October 10-12, 2019

- Registration opens at the hotel on October 9, 5-7 pm

- Event starts at 8 am on Thursday, October 10.

- Event ends at 2 pm on Saturday, October 12.

Activities and Topics include:

- Men and women's support groups
- New technologies and specialized activity prosthetics
- Psychological and physical health
- Adaptive yoga
- Skincare products and tips
- Gait training
- Desensitizing the residual limbs, phantom pain management
- Navigating ramps, stairs, curbs, uneven terrain

Therapists, prosthetists and medical professionals cannot register for this event. This event is only for bilateral above-knee amputee participants.

Registration is $20 per person.

Participants are responsible for flight and hotel expenses. Most meals will be covered, but budget to purchase dinner on Saturday night, as classes end at 2 pm before dinner time.

PLEASE NOTE

Accessible rooms are limited, so please book early if you need an accessible room. You may also ask for a shower chair. Valet is complimentary at the hotel, please do not park in a garage, but valet your vehicle at the front of the hotel.
